What does occupational therapy involve?

Each individual is unique and has their own unique strengths and their own unique needs. Occupational therapists are skilled and trained to identify and build upon these strengths as well as address barriers and difficulties in order to improve ease for completion of daily tasks to increase independence and help everyone reach their goals in their everyday wants and needs. Occupational therapy uses a personally tailored, client-centered, and strengths-based approach to help achieve those goals.

What populations does Empower Therapy Services provide occupational therapy to?

Empower Therapy provides services to anyone 18 years and older with various intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as neurodiverse population- population examples could include but are not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), learning disabilities and more.

How do I know if myself or a family member would benefit from occupational therapy?

You or a family member may benefit from services if you notice that you have increased difficulty completing daily tasks such as dressing, cleaning, cooking- or even more complex tasks such as managing finances, scheduling appointments, finding/maintaining employment or getting around your community.

How does therapy with Empower Therapy Services work?

Therapy consists of an one-on-one initial evaluation with a certified and licensed occupational therapist in order to identify and determine specific strengths and barriers. From there, a client-centered, occupation and strengths-based plan of care is developed involving 60 minute intervention sessions 1-2 times/week. Families are encouraged to be involved as much as possible to facilitate carry over between sessions.

Appointments for evaluations can be made at a time that is convenient for you. Using the results of the individualized evaluation- we can work together to determine whether therapy is appropriate for you or your family member.

How do I pay for services?

Empower Therapy Services accepts Medicare, Idaho Medicaid, Blue Cross of Idaho and cash pay.
