Occupational Therapist

I am a graduate with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Idaho State University. I was born and raised in North Idaho, graduating from Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene. I then went on to play football and receive my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health from the University of Idaho prior to beginning graduate school. I have experience working as Habilitative Support with individuals with developmental disabilities, experience in pediatric occupational therapy clinics in the North Idaho region and experience working as a staff member at Specialized Needs Recreation (SNR) in Coeur d’Alene. Prior to this, I worked as an occupational therapist at a Skilled Nursing Facility as well as in the McCall-Donnelly School District. I am excited to begin my own journey to provide occupational therapy services to teen and adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help all people achieve their goals and dreams-to turn hopeless into hope, can’t into can and impossible into possible.

My name is Karen Scott, I have lived throughout the Northwest for most of my life. I have two grown daughters with whom I love spending time. We like to get outdoors - hiking, biking, and camping, among other things. 

I have been in Occupational Therapy for over thirty years. I enjoy working with with both pediatrics and geriatrics- where I was able to work with individuals with various developmental and intellectual disabilities. I have gained valuable skills while working within schools, clinics, hospitals, and homes to help myself become a well-rounded and effective therapist. I find joy in making someone smile, and I love contributing to a person's growth and development.

I am a certified occupational therapy assistant with 7 years experience, dedicated to helping people build confidence, independence, and everyday life skills. I am family man who enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with those I love. Outside of work, I am faith driven individual, entrepreneur, love being active, and I value hard work, discipline, and serving others with intention and integrity. I believe what makes Occupation Therapy so awesome is the character change and confidence that individuals build over time! My goal is simple- to make a positive difference one person at a time.

Kirsten Adams, MS CCC-SLP

Master of Science of Speech-Language Pathology

My name is Kirsten Adams, MS CCC-SLP. I grew up in Virginia and moved out west for school. I have been working as a speech therapist since 2018 and specialize in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and feeding/swallowing. Most of my experience has been in pediatrics with varying severity of developmental disabilities. My favorite thing about speech therapy is working with caregivers and families. There’s something magical about collaborating as a team to set up the best possible environment and provide as many tools and strategies as possible for the client to experience success. Although I am passionate and enthusiastic about my job, my truest joy is rooted in being a wife and a mother. I’m so grateful to have a career in which I can prioritize my family.

Alyssa Thomas, MOT, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

I grew up in San Diego, CA, and moved to Washington state with my family in 2013. I love spending time with my husband and our 4 nieces and nephews, going to farmers markets, coffee shops, paddle boarding, and traveling to new areas. 

I hold a B.S. in Kinesiology from Washington State University and a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) from Loma Linda University, graduating in 2021. I have clinical experience in outpatient pediatrics including telehealth, and have spent the last >4 years in an acute care hospital, ages 17-101! I also collaborated with the founder of DS Connections NW to create a teen and young adult group that has been running for the past 3.5 years, expanding into Spokane Valley.

I love occupational therapy because it gets me outside of myself, stepping into someone else’s world, and focusing on what is most important to them. I enjoy building confidence in others, fostering resiliency, and giving tools to succeed in the activity they want or need to do. I have a heart for people with developmental disabilities because I believe this is an underserved population. I see deep strength in them and I want to encourage them to reach their highest potential.
